If you have kids in your life, odds are you’ve heard of the slime craze that has swept the nation. Maybe they’ve let you know in no uncertain terms that next time you get them a gift, that’s what they want more than anything. What Is The Best Age For Kids To Play With Slime?
Here at Dope Slimes, we generally recommend that kids be at least 8 years old to play with our products. However, some kids are ready to play with slime at an earlier age. It depends on the individual child, and it’s always best to consult with the child’s parent or guardian if the gift is for a grandchild, niece/nephew, family friend, etc.
The greatest concern when it comes to age limits is how likely the child is to try to eat the slime. Though we don’t use any toxic products in the making of our slime, they aren’t good to eat, and can cause stomach aches and other discomforts if ingested. Some of our slimes look (and smell) really yummy, so it’s important that the kids are old enough to know that just because it looks tasty doesn’t mean they should eat it.

The Best Slime for Kids Under 8
You may have a child who has their heart set on playing with slime, but you might not trust them not to take a taste. Or, you might have a little sibling that wants to play with slime like their big sis or bro… but also wants to sample it. And that just can’t fly.
If you have a younger child that you think is ready to play with slime, it might be a good idea to go with one that doesn't look or smell edible. This will make it much less likely that they'll try to eat it. A good example is our Diamond Clear Slime, pictured above.

Keep in mind that edible slimes won’t look and behave exactly like their traditional counterparts. They lack important activators that give regular slime its signature texture. However, they’ll provide hours of entertainment for younger kids who don’t want to feel left out (and it’s okay if somebody taste tests it, too.)
